Dr. Jeffrey Maehara, a board-certified ophthalmologist, has received fellowship training in anterior segment-glaucoma specialization. He is a leader in the field and has been the first physician in Hawaii to perform many procedures, such as implanting the Acrysof ReStor and Acrysof Toric lenses.

One of the most common procedures offered by the clinic is Bladeless LASIK, which is performed using a femtosecond laser. This procedure works by reshaping an irregular cornea so that light travels through the eye in a uniform way. Dr. Maehara utilizes two laser devices designed to elevate the accuracy of the LASIK procedure. Allegretto Wave® and IntraLase™ FS are both proven safe and effective, with the latter having a lower risk of corneal flap complications.

Maehara Eye Surgery also provides advanced glaucoma procedures such as standard trabeculectomy as well as other treatments to prevent damage to the optic nerve. In addition, they offer cataract surgery and premium lens implants that can correct a variety of errors with little downtime. Corneal transplantation is also a procedure offered by Maehara Eye Surgery, which can correct irregularities in the shape of the cornea that cause light to land in front or behind the retina.
